Water Pumps

Solar water pumps operate anywhere that the sun shines. There is a direct relationship between sunshine and water pumping; a high rate of sunshine correlates to a high rate of water being pumped. DC solar pumps are designed to efficiently operate for as long as the sun is out; in order to get the maximum benefit from the sunlight, direct current...

  • Submersible Pumps
    Submersible Pumps
Submersible solar pumps are generally considered for applications from medium to high water demand.  This involves deep wells, cattle, agriculture and other applications that require a high volume of water pumped every day. Submersible water pumps are designed to pump water from dawn to dusk. They operate directly from the solar panels alienating the need for storage batteries. If there is any excess of water it can be stored in an elevated reservoir for later use.
Some of the bigger submersible solar pumps can lift water over 600 feet and can pump up to 20,000 gallons per day at lower lifts. The pumps can operate at different speeds, depending on the distance and height the water travels. For example, the same pump can pumps water at 4gpm (gallons per minute) at 525 feet, or 50gpm at 20 feet with the same solar array. The daily pumping capacity of the pump is directly related to the size of the solar array and the solar irradiation available at that particular location.
The pumps that you will find in our catalog provide optimal efficiency, durability, and versatility. The Grundfos submersible pump is top of the line and can lift water up to 525 feet and can be directly hooked up to a PV system or wind turbines. It can run off of any DC or AC power source, with low or high power surges. The Grundfos pumps offer accessories such as a water level switch and different interface boxes for monitoring purposes and to enable you to hook up to different power sources. The Shurflo submersible pump is more efficient with slightly shallower applications. It is great for livestock watering, irrigation, pond areation, remote homes and cabins with low water requirements. It also has optional controller features for monitoring your system and translating your power sources.
  • Surface Pumps
    Surface Pumps
Surface solar pumps are less expensive than DC submersible pumps and are best at drawing water from shallow wells, springs, ponds rivers or tanks, and push it to a storage tank or reservoir. The ideal lift length for surface pumps is between 10 and 100 feet. The smallest of surface pumps are used for circulating fluids in 12V and 24V systems. The Shurflo surface pumps that we carry have a maximum gpm (gallons per minute) of 3.8gpm, with open flow speeds of 2.2 to 2.5gpm. These surface pumps, as opposed to the submersible pumps, are designed for continuous, steady flow applications and require the use of batteries for proper operation. They are ideal to pressurize water for homes, cabins or even for irrigation systems. The Shurflo 2088 surface pumps are manufactured with built in pressure switches and are designed for easy connection to most common plumbing fittings.  The Shurflo accessories we stock help increase the pumps’ productivity, as well as reliability and longevity.  The heat sink provides an extra cooling system for your pump that even allows the pump to dry out without damaging the system. We also offer the Shurflo twist-on filter that increases productivity of your pump by keeping unwanted debris out of your water flow.  Another accessory includes a Shurflo filter that can be easily removed for keeping your pump clean and extending its life cycle.
