Use the ZigBee Home Gateway kit to wirelessly connect your SolarEdge inverter to the internet through the home’s existing router. The Home Gateway is located next to the home router and can receive information from as many as 15 inverters. By managing the communication wirelessly there is no need to run CAT cable to the inverter.
The SolarEdge Home Gateway kit features an improved communication range of 15 meters or 50 feet (Indoors) by utilizing an external antenna on the inverter and by using the ZigBee communications protocol. The inverter’s enclosure protect the antena allowing outdoor installations.
The SolarEdge ZigBee basic kit comes with one ZigBee slave unit and one Home Gateway. The basic kit can be augmented with additional ZigBee communications cards for multiple inverter installations and repeater gateways for when you need to support longer transmission distances. The SolarEdge ZigBee Home Gateway is covered by a 5 year limited warranty.
The ZigBee Home Gateway is compatible with all HD-Wave inverters:
Max AC power: 3000W
Max DC power: 4650W
Max AC power: 3800W
Max DC power: 5900W
Max AC power 5000W
Max DC power: 7750W
Max AC power 6000W
Max DC power: 9300W
Max AC power 7600W

Using SolarEdge inverters and optimizers have multiple benefits, below is a list of a few:
- Easy internet communication, production data, panel level monitoring and system fault alerts.
- The optimizers are equalizing the DC power in the system, making the DC to AC conversion significantly more efficient
- The total system output can be increased up to 20% as compared with central inverters
- Strings of different lengths do not affect the performance of the system at all
- Ideal for retrofits since modules of different sizes can be used in the same system
- Extreme flexibility with the system design, specially in shaded roofs
- Modules in the system can be installed with different orientations
SolarEdge is a global company and a leader in PV inverters, power optimizers, and module-level monitoring services. With their invention of an intelligent inverter solution, it has transformed the way power is harvested and managed in solar photovoltaic systems. They have addressed a broad range of solar market segments, from residential to commercial and small utility-scale solar installations.
SolarEdge continues to improve grid-tie solar power generation. In each system, a DC to DC Power optimizer is paired with each solar panel that allows each one to operate on its own and at its highest efficiency. The SolarEdge system has a lot of benefits when designing your own system. For instance, there is no need for string sizing. Different string lengths can be accommodated, and panels don’t have to be facing the same way. They can provide up to 25% more energy production in systems with shading issues.
SolarEdge inverters are designed to work with their optimizers. Their power optimizers handle the MPPT and voltage separately for each module, which makes their inverters only responsible for DC to AC inversion. Because of this, it allows them to be less complicated, more reliable and also cost effective with a standard 12-year warranty that can be extended to 20 or 25 years.
