Product information

Use the Phocos MXI-IR USB-Infrared programming device for communication between CIS series charge controllers and your computer. The USB interface allow the programming of the controller's setting like battery type, deep discharge thresholds, load timers, etc.

When used with the CIS-MPPT controllers the MXI-IR allows you to extract performing data from the controller's integrated 2-year data memory. The Phocos MXI-IR programming device is compatible with CIS, CIS-N, CIS-LED and CIS-MPPT charge controllers.

To create to communication bridge between your PC and the controller simply connect the MXI-IR device to the USB port of your laptop computer. The communication with the CIS controller will happen via infrared connection within a 8 meter range. The programing device requires the Phocos CISCOM software for proper communication. The software is available for free download at Phocos website.

MXI-IR drivers downloaded from Phocos website are for Windows 7 and earlier.  For Windows 8 or 10 follow the following instructions:

Part 1: Download and Install FTDI VCP Driver
- Download the FTDI VCP Driver on http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM21224_Setup.zip
- Extract all files from compressed zip folder
- Run CDM21224_Setup Application
- Install FTDI VCP Driver

Part 2: Install USB-Serial Converter
- Plug in MXI to USB-port
- (step 1 – step 5) open the Device Manager in Windows Control Panel
- (step 6) Locate and Right click on Phocos MXI and select 'Update Driver Software' from the context menu
- (step 7) Select “Browse my computer for driver software”
- (step 8) Select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer” at the bottom of the window.
- (step 9) Select “USB-Controller”
- (step 10) Select “FTDI” and “USB Serial Converter”
- (step 11) Ignore the alert and select “yes” to continue the installation
- Second step completed – “USB-Serial Converter” is installed
- Close all windows (except for the device manager)

Part 3: Install USB-Serial Port
- (step 1 – step 5) open the Device Manager in Windows Control Panel (if not already open)
- (step 6_3) Locate and Right click on “USB-Serial Port” and select 'Update Driver Software' from the context menu.
- (step 7) Select “Browse my computer for driver software”
- (step 8) Select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer” at the bottom of the window
- (step9_3) Select “Port (COM & LPT)”
- (step 10_3) Select “FTDI” and “USB Serial Port”
- (step 11_3) Ignore the alert and select “yes” to continue the installation
- Third step completed – “USB-Serial Port” is installed
- Close all windows
- Now you can use the MXI device

Troubleshoot Tips
- If installation fails at any point, please make sure Windows updates have all been completed.
- If having issues installing, don’t hesitate to try a different USB port.

CM 04 and CM 10
The CM 04 and the CM 10 are the smallest and most inexpensive charge controller Phocos offers. They are ideal for small systems that do not require Low Voltage Disconnect (LVD).

ECO 10

CMLup10 and CMLup20

ECO-N-10-T and ECO-N-20-T
Indisputable a great controller for humid, dusty or corrosive environments. As the ECO 10 unit, the electronics in the ECO-N-T units are fully potted and cased in an aluminum cover, the main difference is that they come with terminals instead of wires to facilitate a secure connection.

DINGO D2020N
Besides the front display, the first thing you will notice about the Dingo D2020N is the wide range of operating voltages 12V, 24V, 32V, 36V and 48V it provides out of the box. It is fully programmable and works with wind and micro-hydro power sources.

CMLsolid30
The CMLsolid30 is the largest Phocos PMW controller, suitable for medium 12/24V PV arrays up to 360W. Provides 30A of charging capacity and LVD. It is compact and features a heat dissipator in the back. It has full electronic protection and is cased in a flashy orange aluminum cover. It also features a USB for charging small electronics.
Main feature: Compact size with 30A of charging capacity.

CIS-N-10 and CIS-N-20
The CIS-N controllers are known for their built-in load timer. They are commonly used in solar lighting applications. They are fully encapsulated in an aluminum case and does not have any moving parts. It is suitable for 12V and 24V systems and it comes in 10A and 20A. Some CIS models can control two independent loads. Don’t judge it by it’s size, the CIS-N controller is loaded with features.
Main feature: Built-in timer for one or two independent loads.
